Advanced Refrigeration Technologies. Overview of absorption and double-effect systems, psychrometric chart, thermal comfort in buildings, refrigerators, solid & liquid desiccant systems, incident solar radiation on surfaces, building energy analysis by KENAK, TEE KENAK software, building energy analysis.

The course on “Clean Technologies” offers a theoretical and empirical overview of heat and power production technologies as well as thermal energy storage technologies with the aim of integrating such technologies in first and tertiary sector applications. Environmentally friendly cooling systems are also presented in theory and in laboratory sessions. ENERGY+ software is utilized for energy technology applications also considering their financial sustainability. The course aims at familiarizing students with energy certification, the energy footprint and CO2 footprint. Common CO2 capture technologies are presented to mitigate pollution in residential and industrial applications. The concept of Circular Economy is thoroughly investigated with case studies illustrating its contribution to sustainable development and entrepreneurship. Emphasis is also placed on exhaust emissions and mitigation technologies to protect the environment.
